Peace of Mind

Have you ever heard that in one lifetime, people spend three months brushing their teeth, half a year in the shower and over a whole year cleaning their house? But have we ever spent one moment cleaning our mind? Have you ever cleaned your mind? Have you thought of cleaning your mind? Can the human mind really be cleaned? The human mind is a composition of numerous thoughts and feelings like love, fear, anxiety, stress and more; out of which there are a lot of thoughts that we really do not want to have and feelings which we do not want to experience.  For a person to get rid of thoughts or feelings which they do not really want, they…

Nox: Curtain Call

The final dialogue is to be delivered, amidst hushed silence. After a year of enrapturing performances, we now stand at the edge of the stage with our backs to the curtain - amidst the orchestra's parting outro, staring into an audience in darkness. After a year of faith and loyalty, of the highest reception and valued critique, the time has come for the Editorial to momentarily bid farewell to her beloved companion and most treasured counterpart - the Readership. But not without the commendation, love, and gratitude it deserves. So here we are, after the music has finally died out, the applause simmered away, and the lights have come back on - all in preparation for our final Curtain Call,…

The Parting Glass

And so, the day finally comes around. The day that I wake up and realize that I am no longer bound by the duties and responsibilities tethered to the post of an Editor. It’s quite funny really, because I had always known this day would come and yet, as it arrives, I’m left feeling quite odd. A strange feeling creeps in. One that I know all too well and one that I, personally, am not too fond of. The feeling of farewell. “Of all the money that e'er I hadI spent it in good company” The Editorial was my home away from home in many ways. It was a safe haven that provided me with a platform to use my…

State of the Blog #1

Hello all! It’s been a while since you’ve heard from us, hasn’t it? We’re here to tell you where we’ve been and what the road ahead for us here at the Editorial looks like. The first few months, no doubt, have been absolutely electric and we couldn't be prouder of everyone in the team. December however, proved to be a rather slow month for us and if you’re wondering why, it’s because the Editorial took a much-deserved break where we gave all our writers some time to rest after what proved to be a very intense yet highly productive first five months. Trust us when we say that they deserved it. But January marks a whole new month and with…

Lumos

Looking back at the whirlwind of three months we’ve passed since the election of the new Board, we believe it’s safe to say that in our innocence, neither of us imagined a leap of such monumental proportions that transported us from being mere literary enthusiasts who occasionally (and might we add, quite enthusiastically) peer-reviewed each other’s work, to heading the Rotaract Editorial as Co-Editors. Let us be clear, we are not strangers to the fact that this is a rather ambitious feat in itself. For the first time in Rotaract history, the creative decisions are made by not one, but two editors working in synchronicity. And in the light of this alarming realization, we have now found our collective consciousness…

From Panels to Pixels: The Misunderstood Medium That Is Video Games

Video games, the very idea of it, what picture does it paint in your mind? In the modern day and age, if you were to walk up to an individual who doesn’t necessarily engage with the medium, especially in Southern Asia and ask them what their take on video games is, you’d mostly hear a range of answers that for the most part, circle around the common consensus of it being a simple activity to pass time or an activity which is unproductive, wastes time and is futile with very little to no potential of storytelling or world building. It’s definitely interesting to ponder upon how the public came to such a fixed collective conclusion. Thereby, let’s try to understand…
