Tiny Talkers, which took place on the 16th of May, was a heartwarming community service project aimed at introducing young children to the English language through play-based learning. Focused on nurseries within the Colombo Municipal Council area, the project brought engaging English sessions to early learners in an interactive setting. From storytelling and simple word games to songs and communication, each session was designed to spark curiosity and build confidence in using English from a young age. This initiative was organized in collaboration with lecturers from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, the Colombo Public Library, and the Colombo Municipal Council. Mental health and suicide prevention are topics that affect many of us. Hence, the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts organised Healing Hearts 2.0—to help raise awareness and offer support where it’s needed most. This initiative unfolded in two impactful phases, each targeting different communities, but united by a shared mission: to nurture emotional well-being and offer support to those in need. On March 22nd, 2025, members of the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts, visited Sisters of Providence, "Talitha Cum", a shelter for elderly cancer patients located at St. Anne’s Convent. Many of the residents there have been left without family support, making emotional connection and companionship all the more essential. The visit was part of the club’s heartfelt initiative - Golden Hours, designed to offer mental relaxation and emotional support to the residents.
