Golden Hours

Golden Hours

On March 22nd, 2025, members of the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts, visited Sisters of Providence, “Talitha Cum”, a shelter for elderly cancer patients located at St. Anne’s Convent. Many of the residents there have been left without family support, making emotional connection and companionship all the more essential.

The visit was part of the club’s heartfelt initiative – Golden Hours, designed to offer mental relaxation and emotional support to the residents. Rather than large gestures or complex programming, the focus was on something beautifully simple: being present. Through singing, dancing, and heartfelt conversations, the rotaractors spent time creating moments of joy, connection, and comfort.

Golden Hours was a gentle but powerful reminder of how much emotional care matters—especially for the elderly, whose mental well-being can often be overlooked. The project reinforced a simple truth: sometimes, just showing up and sharing a smile can be deeply healing.
