Lost Love’s Lament

It's my fault for wanting more than You were willing to give  For falling in love and wanting your attention  I hoped you would love me back That you would call me darling forever  I wanted to make you happy  I did everything to make you like me back  Everything you wanted me to do  But I was too stupid to think you'd ever like someone like me  I got what I deserved  Because you never wanted it After all, who would love a dead soul? - Rtr. Chrysanthemum Lip BalmYou laughed, knowing no one sells those types,But I believed at least you would believe meJust the way I thought two summers agoWhile I was unraveling my deepest parts to youHow you brushed away my remarksAnd told me not to throw a pity party. And I wondered how could a girl with green eyesSay these kinds of thingsAnd finally, when I confessedMy sins and dilemmas,Panic attacks out of nowhereYou just smiled , embraced meAnd told me to toughen up.Handed me a store-bought Coke canAnd told me to get six hours sleepThe whole time I was explainingI looked out for signsSigns of empathy in your eyesBut the green emerald shade kept giving me second thoughtsAbout my own existence. And like a…

To the One the Skies Whisper About

Though I have never seen you,You dwell in the quiet recesses of my heart,Like flowers blooming after the storm’s embrace. I call you God of Rain,For your presence is a tender melody,Whispered softly through the heavens above. Are you real,Or merely a fleeting dream I’ve yet to meet?Still, I wait beneath the cloud-stained sky,Hands open to the hush of falling grace,Hoping one day your rain will find me. -Rtr. When You Love Someone

When you love someone,Does it hurt you or does it heal you? When you love someone,Do you feel every breath you take catching with the butterflies in your heart,Calling you home? When you love someone,Is it supposed to terrify or comfort you?Because I think I’ve been loving you,But darling, it’s slowly making me wantTo kill myself while staring at a night skyFull of stars. -Rtr. “Ring”

Don't tell anyone, But I miss the sound of my phone ringing past midnight,  The sound of a soft voice in my ear, My hand strained from holding the phone for hours. Night after night, My phone kept ringing again and again, And I slept in the morning, My head heavy and my eyes hurting, Yet I couldn't stop smiling.  It's pathetic to think of, But the soft voice after midnight was my source of comfort, and I craved it like water, every starless night. Every waking moment of my day, I spent thinking about our conversations and the smooth deep voice of yours. So every night I stayed awake till late, waiting for my phone to ring. -Rtr. Vibhavee…

Ce n’est pas toujours romance

Life blooms when you begin to live. When you smile through the pain,And let your heart brim with sunshine. Ce n'est pas toujours romance,Sometimes, it’s the souls we stumble upon:Those who fold us into their warmthlike we were always meant to belong. Family. Friends. Strangers.Even the quiet boywho meets your gaze with a blush. Life is fleeting. So love, boldly, gently,as much as your heart can hold. -Rtr. Senali Senanayake
