Month in Review: July
The Co-Editors would like to warmly welcome you to the July edition of the Month-In-Review for the year 2022-23, which is a summation of all the events which took place in a month, published at the beginning of the succeeding month. This initiative which was begun in the year 2021-22, is now published tri-lingually the first time this year. For this purpose, we curated team comprising a pool of talented writers of all three languages i.e., English, Sinhala and Tamil who will be contributing for the first six months of the Rotaract year after which the team will be renewed for the next six months. We hope you enjoy the outlook we’ve taken for this year and that you continue to be a part of this wonderful journey that lies ahead of us.

Save the Paws
‘Save the Paws’ is a project aimed at feeding stray dogs and cats, organized by the Community Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club of the University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts. The project intended to fulfil the nutritional requirements of stray animals who are faced with starvation and malnourishment, by promoting active participation in feeding them. The program was held from 25th July to 31st July and the program was able to successfully feed more than 400 stray animals. It was held with the participation of over 70 Rotaractors’ and non – Rotaractors’ alike. Additionally, the project raised awareness about the pressing issues faced by stray animals and what we can do to protect them, to improve the lives of stray animals by satisfying their nutritional needs, and to increase public engagement in improving the wellbeing of them as well by improving community attitudes and empathy towards stray animals.
Membership Development Avenue
2022 is the maiden year for the Membership Development Avenue of the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo. Since 2022 was its maiden year, the avenue has been actively involved in enrolling and engaging junior members to its fore. There are several projects in the pipeline that will attract more members in the future.
Spread Grace ‘22
As the name suggests, Rotaract’s Professional Development Avenue is dedicated to improving the professional skills of its members. And they’re back with a new project called “Spread Grace,” in which they hope to educate their followers on professional etiquette and decorum. This is an ongoing project that they intend to launch in two stages. The first stage is a series of flyers describing important etiquette with special emphasis on dining, interview, and grooming etiquette, and the second phase will be a one-day webinar that will go over professional etiquette in greater detail.
Transition Meeting 2021/22
The 13th Transition meeting of the Rotaract Club of the University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts, took place on July 17th at 10 a.m. via Google Meets, marking the end of year 2021/22 while kicking off the year 2022/23. The final speeches of outgoing President and Secretary Rtr. Anudi Karunarathne and Rtr. Dulari Bookaladeniya, as well as the first official speech of the incoming President, Rtr. Gethmi Adikari, were the standouts of the meeting.
Along with the board, general and prospective members, guide club coordinators Rtr. PP Adheeban Gowrishankar and Rtr. PP Ravindu Seneviratne were also in attendance.
General Meeting – July 2022
The first General Meeting of the year 2022 was held on the 31st of July, at 10 a.m. virtually via Zoom. The meeting was held to hear updates from various avenues of the Rotaract Club of the University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts. Accordingly, the directors of these avenues – club service, community service, professional development, international services, and editorial gave updates on their completed and upcoming projects. Afterwards, Rtr. Gethmi Adikari, the club’s President, encouraged all avenues to achieve their goals outlined for the year and for the members to support the Directors where needed.
The Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and general and prospective members of the Rotaract Club on the University of Colombo Faculty of Arts attended the meeting.
වෘත්තීය සංවර්ධන මාවත – “Spread Grace”
වෘත්තීය සංවර්ධන මාවත ඔවුන්ගේ පළමු ව්‍යාපෘතියේදීම වෘත්තීය සැකසුම් තුළ ආචාර විධි, සහ විචිත්‍රවත්භාවය පිළිබඳව මහජනතාව දැනුවත් කිරීමට පියවරක් ගෙන ඇත. එය “Spread Grace” ව්‍යාපෘතිය ලෙස නම් කර තිබේ.
මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය අදියර දෙකකින් ආරම්භ කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත.පළමු අදියර ලෙස ෆ්ලයියර් මාලාවක් සහ දෙවන අදියර වෘත්තීය ආචාර විධි පිළිබඳ එක්දින webinar වශයෙන් වේ. ෆ්ලයියර් මාලාව ආහාර ගැනීම, සම්මුඛ පරීක්ෂණය සහ ආචාර විධි කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කරන අංශ තුනක් ආවරණය කරයි.මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය අගෝස්තු මාසයේ පලමු වන දිනෙන් ආරම්භ වීමට නියමිතව තිබුණි.
ප්‍රජා සේවා මාවත – “Save the Paws”
“Save the Paws” යනු කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ කලා පීඨයේ රොටරැක්ට් සමාජයේ ප්‍රජා සේවා මාවත විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද අයාලේ යන බල්ලන් සහ බළලුන් සඳහා ආහාර සැපයීමේ ව්‍යාපෘතියකි. ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ අයාලේ යන සතුන්ට ආහාර ලබාදීමේ ක්‍රියාකාරී දායකත්වය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කරමින්, විශේෂයෙන්ම කුසගින්නෙන් හා මන්දපෝෂණයෙන් පෙළෙන අයාලේ යන සතුන්ගේ, විශේෂයෙන්ම අයාලේ යන බල්ලන් සහ බළලුන්ගේ පෝෂණ අවශ්‍යතා සපුරාලීමේ අරමුණින් මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සංවිධානය තිබුණි.ව්‍යාපෘතිය ජූලි 25 සිට ජූලි 31 දක්වා සතියක කාලයක් පැවැත්වුණු අතර අයාලේ යන සතුන් 400 කට වැඩි පිරිසකට ආහාර ලබා දෙමින් සාර්ථකව අවසන් කර තිබිණි. රොටරැක්ටර් සහ රොටරැක්ටර් නොවන 70 කට අධික පිරිසකගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් පෝෂණ වැඩසටහන පවත්වන ලදි.
සමාජ සංවර්ධන මාවතේ ඇරඹීම
පෙර සාමාජිකත්ව සංවර්ධන මාවත නමින් හැදින්වුණු මාවත ජුලි මාසයේදී සමාජ සංවර්ධන මාවත (social development avenue) වශයෙන් නව මාවතක් ලෙස අරුත් ගන්වන ලදි.ඒඔස්සේ කනිෂ්ඨයන් බදවා ගැනීමට සහ දැන හදුනා ගැනීමට වඩාත් ක්‍රියාකාරීව හැකි විණි.නව සාමාජිකයන් රැසක්ම බදවා ගැනීමට මෙය විශාල පිටුවහලක් විය.ඉදිරියේදී ව්‍යාපෘති රැසක්ම කිරීමට සමාජ සංවර්ධන මාවත සැලසුම් කර තිබේ.

කොළඹ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලීය ශාස්ත්‍රපීඨ Rotaract සමාජයේ 2022-2023 වසර සඳහා වන සංක්‍රාන්ති හමුව (transition meeting) පැවැත්වුයේ ජූලි මස 17ත් වන දීය.එය රොටරැක්ට් සමාජයේ කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයේ ප්‍රධානින් හා සාමාජිකයන්ගේ සහභාගිත්වයෙන් පැවැත්විණි. එහි දී සුන්දර පරිච්ඡේදයක අවසානය හා නව පරිච්ඡේදයක ආරම්භයක් සනිටුහන් කරමින් සංක්‍රාන්ති හමුව සාර්ථක ලෙස අවසන් කරන ලදි.
2022/2023 වර්ෂයට අදාළව රොටරැක්ට් සාමාජිකයන් සදහා වු පලමු හමුව ජුලි මස 31 වන දින Google meet තාක්ෂණය ඔස්සේ පැවැත්විණි.එහිදී සියලුම නවකයින් සඳහා රොටරැක් සමාජ ශාලාවේ සහ එක් එක් මාවත්වල සිදුවන දේ පිළිබඳව අදහසක් ලබා දීමට කටයුතු යොදා තිබු අතර නව සාමාජිකයන් බහුතරයකගේ සහභාගිත්වයෙන් එය සාර්ථකව නිම කර ගත හැකි විය.
தொழில்முறை மேம்பாட்டுத் திட்டம் – “Spread Grace”
இத்திட்டம் புதிதாக ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்ட திட்டமாகும்.ஜுலை மாதம் இத்திட்டத்தை ஆரம்பிப்பதற்கான முன் கட்ட வேலைகள் செய்யப்பட்டன.இத்திட்டம் ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் ஆரம்பமாகவிருக்கின்றது.சமூகத்தில் இருக்கும் எங்கள் பார்வையாளர்களுடன் எப்போதும் தொழில் ரீதியாக மதிப்புள்ள ஒன்றைப் பகிர்ந்துகொள்வதே இத்திட்டத்தின் முக்கிய நோக்கம். முதல் திட்டத்தில், தொழில்முறை அமைப்புகளில் ஆசாரம் மற்றும் அலங்காரம் குறித்து பொதுமக்களுக்கு விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்த நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டது. அதற்கு “Spread Grace” என்று தலைப்பிடப்பட்டது.
இரண்டு கட்டங்களாக திட்டத்தை தொடங்க இதன் தலைவர்கள் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளனர். முதல் கட்டம் ஓரு Flyer series முறை மற்றும் இரண்டாவது கட்டம் தொழில்முறை ஆசாரம் பற்றிய ஒரு நாள் webinarஆக இருக்கும்.
சமூக சேவை – “Save the Paws”
இத்திட்டம் ஜுலை 7 ஆம் திகதி ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டது.ஆதரவற்ற விலங்குகளுக்கு உதவும் திட்டமாகும். வழி தவறி நிற்கும் ஆதரவற்ற விலங்குகளுக்கு “Save the Paws” திட்டம் மூலம் கருணை காட்டப் பட்டது.”Save the Paws” என்பது தெருநாய்கள் மற்றும் பூனைகளுக்கு உணவளிக்கும் திட்டமாகும், இது கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் Rotaract Club கலைப்பீடத்தால் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டது.
இந்த திட்டம் ஜூலை 25 முதல் ஜூலை 31 வரை ஒரு வாரம் நடத்தப்பட்டு 400க்கும் மேற்பட்ட விலங்குகளுக்கு உணவளித்து வெற்றிகரமாக முடிந்தது. 70க்கும் மேற்பட்ட Rotaracts மற்றும் Rotaracts அல்லாதவர்களின் பங்கேற்புடன் உணவு வழங்கும் நிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெற்றது. இலங்கையில் திரியும் விலங்குகளுக்கு உணவளிப்பதில் தீவிர பங்களிப்பை ஊக்குவிப்பதன் மூலம், பட்டினி மற்றும் ஊட்டச்சத்து குறைபாடுகளை எதிர்கொள்ளும் தெருநாய்கள் மற்றும் பூனைகளின் ஊட்டச்சத்து தேவைகளை பூர்த்தி செய்யும் நோக்கத்துடன் இந்த திட்டம் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டது.இதன் தலைவர்கள் Hasini Perera Pasindu Chathuranga.
உறுப்பினர் மேம்பாட்டுத் திட்டம்
ஜுலை மாதத்தில் அறிமுகம் செய்யப் பட்ட ஒரு திட்டமாகும்.இத்திட்டத்தின் தலைவர்கள் Juniors ஐ இத்திட்டத்திற்கு சேர்ப்பதில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர்.இத்திட்டம் September மாதத்தில் நடாத்துவதற்கு தலைவர்களால் திட்டமிடப் பட்டிருக்கின்றது.
ஏனையவ
ஜூலை மாதம் 17 ஆம் திகதி Transition கூட்டம் நடைபெற்றது.அதில் கட்டுரைகள் எழுதுவது தொடர்பாகவும் , புதிய திட்டங்கள் குறித்தும் உறுப்பினர்களிடம் கேட்கப் பட்டது. 31 ஆம் திகதி ஜுலை Rotaract Club இன் வருடாந்த முதல் பொதுக் கூட்டம் நடைபெற்றது. அதில் அனைத்து Club திட்டங்கள் பற்றி அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது
