It’s the little things I fall in love with

Having something you love is not just about pursuing happiness. I believe having a passion that you can turn to when you are feeling too much of any positive or negative emotion is necessary. We can love anything, be it a person or an inanimate object, but having that emotional outlet truly helps make a more stable, grounded person. For me, it's the small things in life. This might seem like a cop-out because this could mean anything and everything. But truly, what brings me pleasure is a coffee on a cold evening, a new episode of my favourite series, a new song from my favourite singer or even revisiting a book or song I loved long ago for that…

Maybe It’s the Friends We Made Along the Way!

Ahem! This was supposed to be a very general and tame review of the amazing series by R.F. Kuang: The Poppy War. But then I had to keep that for another article or another day because I have bigger dreams and better ideas. Because when it comes to love, and what I love, just one thing keeps coming into my mind. It has been something that I’ve been thinking about (and there were also special requests) hence, I shall tell you a little story about a group of girls and guys doing this so-called English Honours degree and their shenanigans which is worth spreading around! Trigger warning for attempts to use Gen Alpha slang. I do not understand it but…

Ashes Over Oscars

Ever been in a conversation where everyone’s raving about the latest blockbuster, and you’re just lost? That’s me—every time. Out of the endless list of movies my friends have watched, I’ve probably seen a handful. Maybe none. But while they’re caught up in cinematic universes, I’m busy with something else—something far more thrilling, at least to me. Cricket. It’s not just a sport I watch; it’s an obsession. It might surprise many since I’m not exactly athletic, and I certainly don’t play the game. But that does not matter. Walk into my house, and if the TV’s on, there’s a good chance it’s a cricket match. Catch me in a lecture, and there’s an equally good chance I’m sneaking a…

Arcane: How Fortiche Proved Animation Isn’t Just Kid’s Play

Animation has long been side-lined, asserted that it is for children, not fit for the likes of adults. While most children consume shows and cartoons that are predominantly animated, animation studios like Studio Ghibli have been producing works of art directed by renowned individuals like Hayao Miyazaki since the 1980s. But I’m not here to sing praises for Miyazaki or any of his animated films, but for the newest French animation studio that has caused a buzz both in and out of the animation industry— Fortiche. Fortiche’s magnum opus, Arcane, first dropped in 2021, based on the League of Legends universe, and the production blew people off their feet, including myself. From the tailored soundtrack that was created alongside the…
