Not a TED Talk. But a TAD Talk.

As these words of mine mark the end of my tenure as the Sergeant-at- Arms, a role that I had the honour and privilege of serving in, I am filled with a mix of emotions—gratitude, pride, and a hint of melancholy to bid farewell to this remarkable chapter of my life. I am grateful for the trust Rtr. Gethmi Adhikari (our president) and Rtr. Tharushika Peelikumbura (our secretary) placed in me. I am proud of the accomplishments we have achieved together as Rotaractors, to ensure the smooth functioning of our club.

When I first took on the responsibility of being the Sergeant-at-Arms, I knew it was an opportunity to make a difference and contribute to the betterment of our club and its members though it has been a journey filled with challenges. But definitely, I want to say that the role encapsulates immense growth and rewards too.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all my fellow directors, members and the whole board who have supported me on this path. My dear colleagues, I am grateful for the strong bonds we have formed by getting to know one another.

Tharushika, thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of maintaining order and security within our club. Your guidance and mentorship have been instrumental in shaping me as a leader. I am grateful for the opportunities you have given me to grow, learn, and contribute to our collective success.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our members and lil ones- our junior brothers and sisters. Your support, cooperation, respect along with your willingness to follow the rules and regulations has made my role as Sergeant-at-Arms easier.

As I pass on the torch to my successor – Rtr.Thimira Dinethma, I have no doubt that he will carry out the duties of the Sergeant-at-Arms with utmost dedication and excellence. Dear brother embrace the challenges that lie ahead, for they are the opportunities for your growth and positive change. My heartiest wishes are always with you Thimira.

In closing, I would like to say that serving as the Sergeant-at-Arms has been an unforgettable opportunity for me which led me to witness the collective power of a united community. Together, we have achieved great things and overcome numerous obstacles. As I bid farewell to this role, I extend my thanks to all of my colleagues once again and I wish good luck to the upcoming board. May our juniors get the opportunity of cherishing the memories and experiences which we the seniors had shared. As I step down, my final wish is that “May our Rotaractors continue to thrive and make a positive impact.”

Every new beginning comes from another beginning’s end.

Farewell!

Thank you.

Rtr. Ranmali Fernando
