The Peanut Man on the Bus

The bell rang and the bus hit the brakes. The peanut man got on the bus and started chanting his ritual, "Peanuts! Peanuts! Baked peanuts! 100 rupees per bag! Only 100 rupees!". Some old ladies delightfully bought them. I nonchalantly looked away and closed my eyes. They flew open as I heard Thaththa’s voice call out, "One bag please.". As if he has done this all his life. As if he always bought peanuts from the peanut man on the bus. As if he…

The Next Chapter Begins!

It is safe to say that for the both of us, among the many avenues of the Rotaract Arts Club, the editorial was the one that felt most like home. The editorial is more than words on a page; it is a sanctuary of sorts where imagination knows no bounds and you can write to your heart's content. In addition to being the tapestry where all our emotions, feelings, and opinions are woven together, we are also dedicated to upholding the public image of Rotaract Arts Club. Yes, it is a tremendous responsibility, but one that we as editors find great joy in! As we start our journey as co-editors (hello, hello!) for the year 23/24, we cannot start this…

Challenge Accepted!

Yes, it will be a challenging year! But nothing we can’t handle as a team! Today I'm experiencing an unexpected movement because of my Rotaract family. Actually, from my point of view, this is a brand new challenge. From the bottom of my heart, I said 'yes!' to this brand new challenge a few months ago because facing challenges is my one and only passion. Over the span of one and a half years, I could proudly say I gained thousands of new and exciting experiences by conducting and organizing various kinds of events with the Rotaract Arts family. During those few months, what I saw was a sense of unity among the Rotaract Arts family members. A special mention…

More to go!

Going back to the first day in the university, it was the day we went for the placement tests. New faces. New voices. New conversations. New aura. Basically saying, everything was a new experience. Then and there I realised that the years I would be spending here were definitely going to be the most adventurous years of my life.   Of course, being an introvert, I stood alone and away amidst all the chaos and noise around me, hoping someone would come and talk to me. Suddenly someone tapped on my shoulder. I turned around and there she was, my soon to be best friend. If someone were to ask us why we were friends, we wouldn’t have an answer to give,…
